-President Of Lean On Me Cancer Support Foundation-
I am Davina Randolph Williams, the founder of LOM (Lean On Me Cancer Support Foundation), since 2012, after being diagnosed with bilateral stage 3 breast cancer.
I had breast cancer in not just one but both of my breasts, and I had 2 different types of cancers. I breastfed both of my children and my breasts were leaking at work. My children were 8 and 12 years old, so my breasts should not have been leaking. I had them checked out. My breast doctor noticed the lump growing from the size of a pea to the size of a grape. The biopsy showed signs of cancer in both breasts and I felt cursed. They gave me 6-8 doses of chemotherapy over 6 months and 6 weeks of radiation.
My chemotherapy was hard. I didn’t have an appetite. I lost 20 pounds in 1 month; I lost my hair after 3 months, then I collapsed on a flight of stairs at home and would have fallen if my husband wasn’t in front of me. I had a blood transfusion and almost relapsed, but God!
I survived chemotherapy, radiation, and a blood transfusion. Once the treatment was over I had 5 surgeries. They comprised a double mastectomy, reconstruction, removal of lymph nodes, and both shoulders. God gave me a testimony to help others that would have to take this same or similar journey. I am healed and blessed with a loving husband, family, and friends.
